¡Hola!  ¿Como anda?

This week has been awesome.  We were able to have a baptismal interview for Juan Carlos.  Our district leader Elder Chamorro was able to come to our area and interview him and we are all set for his baptism this coming Saturday!  It is so awesome to see the changes he has made in his life to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ and have the desire to be baptized.  He is a super awesome guy and Elder Harmer and I are very proud of him.

We also had some… other interesting experiences this week.  Elder Harmer and I were doing service for one of our investigators, cutting down tree branches and such.  She had an outhouse that they don’t use anymore and she asked us to throw the branches behind it.  What Elder Harmer didn’t see is that there was a hole/well where all of the waste is, and it is covered by a thin sheet of tin.  He didn’t see it and while he was going to throw the branches behind the outhouse he stepped on the tin, it collapsed and he fell almost all the way in before pulling himself out.  He got a lot of excrement on his shoes and we all had a good laugh.  I also got bit over 130 times by mosquitos during this as well.  Always remember to wear your insect repellent folks.

Today for P-Day we got together as a zone (well, half of a zone), and went and visited some museums about the history of Paraguay.  Here in Encarnacion there was a twister over the river between Paraguay and Argentina that decimated Encarnación.  There was also lots of information of how South America has been modernizing over the past few decades and that only in 2005 there were no streetlights in Encarnacion and by 2015 the entire city and surrounding neighborhoods were lit up and there was power for just about everyone.  It’s really cool to see and appreciate the culture more so I can love the people.  By the time I left Ohio I had built a love for the… crazy people there, and I am very excited to build that love up again for the people here in Paraguay.  In just the short month I have been here I can really say that I love these people.  They are all really nice and love to talk to us.  I know that as we all pray to develop love for all of those we are around us, we can better reach their hearts and be able to bless their lives.

I hope you all have a good week!  Stay Warm!

Elder Watson
