Hello!
This week was pretty cool. We had a lot of lessons with our friends and did lots of service. On Thursday we had a lesson with our friend Jessica where we taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was great, she expressed a lot of anticipation for her baptism on the 29th. After the lesson I asked her if she remembered the names of the missionaries who first taught her almost 2 years ago in Ciudad del Este. To my surprise she said that my Zone Leader in Encarnacion, Elder Wolfgramm, was the first person to teach her. That was awesome to find out, at the time when Elder Wolfgramm was teaching her, they had to stop meeting because Jessica’s mother wasn’t a big fan of the church. Luckily almost 2 years later she has the opportunity to be baptized. It was a great reminder to always trust the timing of the Lord.
On Friday we did exchanges with our Zone Leaders. We cleaned our font in preparation for the other Elders’ baptism on Saturday, and visited a lot of members. We also invited a lot of people in the branch as well as our friends to come and attend the baptism. On Saturday the baptism went great, and best of all was that Jessica came. The baptism went off without a hitch, maybe except for the water being cold for their 2 converts. Afterwards Jessica asked to speak with Elder Valenzuela and I. She told us that she wanted to change her date of baptism on Friday the 29th of October to Saturday the 30th so that she didn’t have to wait to receive the Holy Ghost. “Of course!” we told her, and so now we just need to teach her the commandments, and have an interview and she will be ready to enter the waters of baptism next Saturday!

This week there was a lot of news about Elders I know that are leaving their reassignments to go to their original foreign missions. I’m grateful that I went to Paraguay when I did and have spent the time here preaching the Gospel to others. Sometimes it’s difficult to accept the will of the Lord when it may seem so different from ours. When I find myself doubting the Lord I think of the words to the hymn, “I’ll Go Where You Want Me to Go”:
It may not be on the mountain height
Or over the stormy sea,
It may not be at the battle’s front
My Lord will have need of me.
But if, by a still, small voice he calls
To paths that I do not know,
I’ll answer, dear Lord, with my hand in thine:
I’ll go where you want me to go.
Even when we struggle, we need to remember that the Lord knows whats best for us, and all he asks is that we go where he wants us to go.
I hope you all have a great week!
