¿Como estamos capos?

This week Elder Valenzuela and I saw lots of success and interesting experiences! We had several lessons with our friend Cinthia, and she is progressing very well. She always has new questions for us and really wants to continue to improve and learn more. I also had the opportunity to meet even more members. One of my favorite things about the mission is meeting the members, each area there are members that make me feel a little closer to home. Seeing their dedication to the Lord and His church is really inspiring and helps me remember my purpose as a missionary. They also have really funny pets, the really fat dog and the really upset dog that I have included in this email both belong to members. And sometimes they even have unique pets like a monkey, which I have also included!

We also had a pretty good week of finding new people to teach. We were fortunate to find an inactive brother in the branch, and he invited us into his home to talk to him and his family. He spoke to us about his meeting with the missionaries, his baptism, and why he currently does not attend church. He expressed interest in returning to church, and his current partner told us that she wants to learn about the church and eventually be baptized. We were so happy to teach them about eternal families and the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We extended the invitation for them to again recommit to the gospel, to read the Book of Mormon, pray, and to come to church again. It’s a really satisfying feeling to see more and more people at church on Sundays, and hopefully Elder Valenzuela and I will continue to see more and more people at church each Sunday!

Throughout my mission I have visited a lot of homes of different people. I have noticed several different aspects that have contributed to a happy home environment. I have been in homes where the love of the family is apparent, where the home is centered on Jesus Christ and his gospel, and where self interests come second to the prosperity and happiness for the family as a whole. Seeing this type of home has made me want to develop and have this relationship and environment in the future. I have also been in homes where this love, peace, and happiness is more difficult to feel, and the members of the family yearn for this type of relationships in their homes. No matter what, I know that when we focus our lives on Jesus Christ and his gospel, focus on loving others, and giving up our pride and helping our loved ones, we can create a fine home where the Spirit can reside, and can help us endure to the end.

I hope you can all focus on having Jesus Christ and his gospel be the center focus of your homes, and that you can all have a good week!
