Hi!
This week I hit my one year mark! It was fun, we did what we do everyday, which is we worked. We are having a good time, really strengthening the branch while continuing to try and find new people to teach. It was satisfying to work on my 1 year mark, it kind of shows what my mission has been like and that even though there may be a special occasion or things happening in the world, it’s good to know that the work of the Lord never stops. In other news, last P-Day we ate lunch with some of the Elders in our district, and the next day they woke up very sick. Even though they were sick and needed to stay in bed, they still wanted to have district council, and so we went to their apartment to do so. I’ve been very fortunate not to be sick on the mission, but I know that one day I will probably get sick. I’ve attached a picture of our impromptu district council.

On Sunday after church I went to the terminal in Ciudad del Este to head to Asuncion to do some paperwork for migrations. We left at around 1:30 and didn’t get to the mission office until about 8:45. Spending 7 hours on a bus isn’t usually how I like to spend my time but it was fun to go up. I went with my zone leader, Elder Ellis, and we had a good time talking about all sorts of stuff on the way to Asuncion. When we got to Asuncion we met up at the office with a bunch of Elders that had come with my group in January, and it was super awesome to be able to talk to them again. We have all grown a lot since January. We speak better Spanish, we can teach better, we know how to work harder, and I feel like there is an even stronger spirit about us. I am very grateful for the change that comes because of a mission. We stayed the night at the office and on Monday we headed into the immigration office, signed a paper, snapped our picture, and we went back to the office to eat lunch. After an hour Elder Ellis and I took an Uber back to the bus terminal. We left at about 3 o’clock, and didn’t get back to the apartment until about 10:50, so I was dead tired, but really grateful for the trip.
This week a member shared a scripture that I really liked, it was Proverbs 3:5-6 which reads:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Sometimes when the Lord tells us something, or we have something in our lives that we don’t understand, we sometimes ask the Lord why we have to have it in our lives. It’s not easy to accept a trial from the Lord, especially when we can’t see how it can bless us. But I know that if we put away our pride and trust in the Lord, he will direct our paths and we will look back and see how times of trial or uncertainty were really blessings. I’ve seen that a lot throughout my mission, and I am excited to see it in the next year as well.
I hope you all have a good week!
Elder Watson
