Howdy!
Well the beginning of this week was kind of weird, as I ate something strange and was sick for a few days. If I ate or drank anything I would throw it up and it was not a lot of fun. I finally started eating normally again on Wednesday but ever since I can only eat a few spoonfuls until I feel really full and can’t eat anymore. All the members say, “Elder, why aren’t you eating my food, does it taste bad?” And I have to say, “No hermana! Your food is fine, I just have a weak stomach!” But besides that we had a good week, I’m really thankful to have Elder Valenzuela as a companion, we’ve been teaching a lot of people who don’t really speak a lot of Spanish, and it’s been such a blessing that he can speak in Guarani with them. Learning 2 different languages isn’t easy but having a good companion makes it easier.
We also received transfer news this week. Nothing is changing here in Oviedo but some certain things are changing in the Zone. As a parting gift, one of our Zone Leaders got everyone in the Zone a “Law of Chastity” locket. It was kind of a running joke in our Zone so it was pretty funny. But, Elder Valenzuela and I are really excited to continue working together for another transfer. We have lots of people that are progressing nicely and we should see a few baptisms here in Oviedo by the end of the next transfer. Plus I’m excited to improve my Spanish and Guarani even more this transfer with him. The work is going well!
We shared a lot of different messages with people this week, but a common theme we found was the need to stay resilient. A common scripture that came up was Isaiah 5:20,
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for flight, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
We live in a world that is full of temptations and problems, and it is easy to be swayed by the enticings of the natural man. For this reason it is important to currently build upon our testimonies so that we can resist these temptations. We have an excellent opportunity to receive guidance and support this weekend with General Conference, and I hope you can all do the things necessary to strengthen your testimonies!
